He at least lived a long successful life. It sucks whenever a Seiyuu passes away. :(

After All, "Gold" is Better than "Silver", Isn't It?

Posted by Cinder on March 11, 2012, 09:36:55 pm
As Gintama's new season is predicted to comes to a close on March 26 as its time slot will be replaced by a 50-episode TV series called "Gon", questions arose as to what the "last episode", episode 252 could be about...

Would they close it off on a good note with Toyako? The story right after the recent New Year's chapter? An anime original?

Well, how about this synopsis?

Quote
Hopefully the women's soccer team can take the gold medal in London...
After all, "Gold" is better than "Silver", isn't it?

That said, today's story is about...

Site & Forum Plans for 2012

Posted by Cinder on January 30, 2012, 06:58:37 am
Hello! As the first "Site News" of the new year, I'd like to use this opportunity to talk about the past, present, and future.

Back in 2009, we were on a subdomain on the Baratie (One Piece) domain name. The site started with a mere "Gintama Arcs" page. We started with a few new people in the forums who wanted to see how far we'd get. You wouldn't have even known the forums were Gintama-related if you didn't see the board titles or thread names.

We've come a long ways in a short period of time.

Now we've got our own domain name, we've gone through various Gintama forum themes, and neat things are being made for the content side of the site. We are a community that can stand on its feet. And we're only going to go higher!

Site Content:
As visitors from the past may have noticed, a lot of content that was planned from the beginning in 2009 still hasn't been made yet! The intention was to avoid putting up half-completed pages, but eventually the main problem was the limitation of the site's design. Current long-term projects are the References, Changes, Characters sections, and miscellaneous translations (Question Corners, interviews ... Sorachi's Weekly Jump comments are coming in full package -- all 370+ of them, and the Sket x Gintama interview is nearly done). The new site design is inching closer and closer to its completion so please look forward to it.

Finally, a new design means revamps to older pages as well, so you can expect new features to make reading or researching more fun. For example, instead of a simple list for the episode⇔chapter maps, there will be an easy way to find out more information if chapter and episode numbers don't mean a thing to you. Maybe you need a short synopsis and picture for the episode lists. Maybe you're interested in knowing what the serious arcs are, or which episodes are recommended before diving into one. Maybe you want to know all the Shogun or Otose/Catherine episodes are.

If you have a cool idea or a request, send me a message!

Forums:
Welcome to "Baragaki Month"! We skip a general winter theme and go straight to a "Baragaki/Thorny arc" version. I've tested it under a few browsers, but please let me know if anything is not working correctly. It is similar to the previous "Four Devas" theme in the way that lots of elements were brought from both anime (opening) and manga (color page).

Upon popular request, a ZuraBot in the chatroom is currently in development. Unfortunately, the chatroom was designed to house only one bot, so it is somewhat unknown when it will be available alongside GintokiBot. Furthermore, if you have more ideas for bot personalities or commands, feel free to give your input in http://www.yorozuyasoul.com/forums/index.php?topic=539.0

And finally, as I promised to do, I encourage all to create lots of discussion about a chapter's contents every week! It'll give Mr. Translator lots of smiles, so please do so!

Giveaway Aftermath:
I'm proud to announce a second winner! Valued at 1,600 yen is the anime version of the Gintama 2012 calendar. (see pictures here)

Our second prize goes to...
Sparticus!

Congrats! ;D

Thanks all, and cheers to 2012 and beyond!
